They never returned from the siege upon what was the fortress of their ancestors. Shliff entered the Raeloe military school and immersed himself in his parents' studies. Using the notes and tomes they left behind, he furthered his skill in the art in the Arck Mts. Shliff has always believed that necromancy can be used for good. He also believes that because he has power over life and death, he has the right to use it. Shadowkeep started his career as a soldier in the 51st TDS on Jan 1, 2400. In his career, he has resurrected many of his best friends and slain some of the most fearsome foes. Shadowkeep slew the Nexus Saint in the arena who'd killed Jake previously. While on the run from the USD, he lifebonded with Aclipsa (see Darktale 7). He also retook Shadowkeep and gained the Lifespear during that time. Baran died valiantly against an M-60 in an arena conflict with a SAW as his partner. The SAW destroyed the M-60. Shliff Shadowkeep ressurected him later, but he died fighting against a Death Knight, Lord Soth, in Lord Baalek's attack upon Relo. Baran rose again due to temporal- dimensional forces beyond complete understanding. Then on vacation, he was killed trying to rescue hostages from terrorists in a mall. The mall blew up. After he was ressurected by Shliff, he nearly died slaying the only surviving terrorist of the four. He became unstable and quite dangerous. One obvious change was the cybernetics he subjected himself to immediately afterwards. (Unregistered ME reduction: -3) He became his old self again in time. Baran 2 He met Rachael Anderson, a paranormal, in the city of Portjunction. They became lovers, but he stays away from the city due to the destruction there that he was linked to. Baran was involved in several major battles in that city on Arck's west coast. He was given a magic sword by General Cochise upon completing officer's training and advancing to 1st Sergeant. The weapon is both a symbol of rank and an important message from The General saying that Baran had done well. Generally it is several spell scrolls and potions along with many low-powered magic items, and a few powerful ones (armor and weapons). It is also a techno-junk heap including things such as rail guns torn off Coalition Enforcers.
